My friends,
There seems to be much
controversy in ''traditional circles" over lineage. Usually
the confusion is in the head of a person who is credited technically and not
actually.
The point is that lineage can never be
truly traced in one man's life and there has never been a master of any thing who was not educated in every variation of the thing he
mastered, including politically opposing systems. If a man like Mr.
Ueshiba were tried in a proper time, he would have lost his credentials from each master as he ''cross
trained'' -- heresy would have been the charge. Nowadays however this is not the
consistency of politics. Ranks of achievement may be deserved for any number of
reasons, but they may never ''out rank '' the applied soldier in the field,
even if it is only sport. To say that a man who has never competed in martial arts is better qualified or higher ranked
than a man who actively competes is a miscarriage of ego and credential.

set by Mr. Kenji Tomiki combat Aikido is a reality. For many who felt it was not
ethical or possible to do this with regard to aikido the solution has come.
